Obituary

Nina Lee Elizabeth Gilcrease, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2020, at the age of 53, after a brief battle with cancer.

Nina was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 14, 1966. She grew up in Lockport, Lousiana and graduated from Central Lafourche High School, Raceland, Lousiana in 1984. Nina moved to Orlando Florida in the early 1990s where she resided until her passing.

Above all things, Nina believed in family and her strong Christian faith. She loved deeply and was filled with great compassion for others.  She loved the Lord, knew His word and spread it to others so eloquently. She loved animals, particularly cats and had a tireless and selfless commitment to spay/neuter programs. Nina felt a calling and love for stray animals and she devoted her life to helping as many as possible.

Nina is survived by her sister, Verona “Ronni” Gilcrease Fundrella (Mike Sam), and also survived by several uncles, aunts, and many cousins. She is predeceased by her mother, Veronica Faith Pellegrin, and father, Duane Gilcrease, maternal grandparents; Johnny and Noelie Pellegrin, and paternal grandparents; Benton and Mamie Lou Bryan Gilcrease.

During her last days, she was supported by the love and prayers of many and surrounded by her loving family.

The family would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the staff of Advent Health Hospice of the Comforter, for their unwavering love, kindness, gentleness and compassionate care shown to Nina throughout her illness.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7th at 5:30 pm – Advent Health Chapel 605 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714 with a reception to follow.
