I knew Norm when I was an Explorer with the VCSO from 1982 through 1984. Norm was an Advisor to the Explorers during that time period and he truly was a "mentor" to all of us Explorers. Norm truly had a passion for us teens who were seeking career paths in Law Enforcement and dedicated so much of his time to the Explorer group. Norm was truly an "unsung hero". He was a big man with a truly big heart. I know for a fact that many Explorers thought of Norm as a "father figure" and a true friend. I had the pleasure of going to Dinner with Norm around 2000 and we shared stories and memories of the Explorer days at VCSO when the Explorer's were at the height of the groups existence. By that time I had been a Deputy Sheriff myself for 13 years in Maryland. I owe a part of my desire to be a cop to Norm. Rest in peace dear friend.

    David,
I'm very sorry I can't be there for the service. I worked with your dad for many years. He always said you were the best thing he ever did and told me how proud you made him. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Bruce Morrow

    David and Family,

I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. Your father was a very special person. When he left the Sheriff's Office we stayed in touch and he made his way back to where Paul Paige was living and then back to New Smynra. I lost touch with him, but he always held a very special place in my heart and many others. Family was very important to him. I know he in with our loving father above. We spoke of that many times when he was up in the mountains. God's blessings to each of you.

    Louaa
