    Dearest Carolyn and Family,
My heart grieves for you all during this hard time of losing your precious Buddy. I just recieved the email through Phillys Howe Randolph. It has been such a long time, but I remember so clearly Buddy's great zest for life. What a joy he was! We lost our irreplaceable "Shack" last July 2nd, so, I identify with what it is to lose an extraordinary man and, at the same time, feel so blessed to have had him in our lives.
May God bless you all and give you strength....Jo

BUddy was an inspiring adult in my young life and young Christian walk. I appreciated his enthusiasm for people and for the Lord and in my young days especially as a teen, I looked up to his passion and eagerness to serve others and the church.
Bless you all as you mourn your husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
    Love in Him,
    Joneal (Shackelford) Kirby

It broke my hear to hear about Buddy from Darleen. He was the youngest of the three of us, and I assumed I would be first. He was always the younger brother to me even if it was not by blood. I remember the last time I saw Buddy, and he kissed me on top of my head when he left Darleen's. He will always live in my memories. We just grew up together. My deepest cry from my hear to you Carolyn. I know how much you loved him and how long.

Danny O'Neal told me about Buddy. I'm so sorry. My father, Glynn Purdy, was the minister at Jackson Street during the years when you had the furniture store. I still have two bedroom suits and some other pieces that mother and daddy bought from you before we moved to San Augustine, Texas. I have fond memories of all of you from those years. My husband passed away in 1972 when our home burned. We had one son. All of you are in my prayers. Sincerely, Sybil Purdy Ballard
