Obituary

Pamela M. Sorokin passed away peacefully at home on February 20th in The Villages, FL. By her side was Elyse Rook, her best friend and companion. She survives her.

Pamela was the daughter of John and Irene Sorokin of Grand Blanc, MI.

She was born on August 28th, 1944 and had multiple sclerosis for 53 years. She never let the M.S. win the lifelong battle and fought it to the end as a true warrior. She was a Social Worker for Grand Blanc Schools in Michigan for many years, along with moonlighting at Nursing Homes as a geriatric S.W.

She received her Masters Degree from Michigan State University in S.W. and loved the Green and White MSU Spartans and College Football.

Her survivors include her sister, Janice Jackson, 2 nephews, Wolfe and John Jackson (Amanda), 3 nieces, Abbey Cowen, Emily Cowen, and Katherine Cowen all from Grand Blanc, MI, four great nieces, Eugenia Jackson, Lorea Jackson, Brooke Jackson, and Allison Jackson, and one great nephew, Lowell Jackson.

Two sisters preceded her in death, Lynn Hadden, and Melanie Cowen, one brother in law, John Cowen, also Linnea Jackson, wife of Wolfe Jackson.  Pamela had many friends in Michigan and in Silver Shores, Key Largo, FL. And a very dear friend Barbara Kellogg-Zehnder, of Zurich, Switzerland.

Any Donations can be sent to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella The Villages, FL,32162 or cshospice.org or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or your charity of choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan this summer.

A dear friend from Dye school, lost touch many, many years ago. Just saw this, often wondered. May she have a sweet peaceful sleep.

Pamela became our new neighbor in the Villages and she was such a joy to be around. She and Elyse bonded with us very quickly in just a few short months. May she rest in pain-free peace and her spirit is free. We treasure knowing her.

Pamela Sorokin - I still smile when saying her first and last name . For some reason, that's how some of us made reference to Pamela at Special Ed meetings, luncheons and parties (a lot of parties). Maybe it was because those 6 syllables bounced so joyfully out of my mouth in one breath!
Pamela's presence had glorious impact; comforting, genuine, happy, hopeful, wise and much more. Friendship with Pamela was effortless! I showed up and she flawlessly molded our FOREVER relationship. Pamela shared Elyse with us and I treasure being a friend to each. Thank you, Pamela Sorokin, for our loving friendship. God blessed me with YOU, past, present and future.

Pam was always fun to be around, I remember her sly smile and twinkle in her eye. We traveled through the halls of Grand Blanc, where she was both a friend in school and a colleague as well. RIP, Kay

Pam was a good friend at GBHS. We both came to GB as juniors and formed a nice friendship. She was fun and funny. Pam was willing to stretch the boundaries a bit and got us into a few zany experiences, all of which I enjoyed. I will remember her with great fondness and I send my condolences to her family.
