Obituary
Pasqualina “Pat” Crisci, 89 of New Smyrna Beach died Friday, January 1, 2021. Pat was born October 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Christina and Victor DeVita. She received her bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and then married the love of her life, George Crisci on January 10, 1954. They moved northeastern Ohio in 1963 where they raised their four children. During this time Pat went back to school and received her PHD in Psychology from Kent State University in 1974.
She worked as a licensed Psychologist in private practice before transferring in the Public School System of Ohio. Pat was the first woman City School Superintendent for the State of Ohio and a State School Superintendent. She then went on to teach at her Alma mater, Kent State University for over 20 years. Pat enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her love of education and teaching. She and George loved to travel and vacationed in New Smyrna Beach since 1976. Later years, they became winter residents until becoming full-time residents in 2001. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George in 2007. Pat is survived by her adored children, Debbie (Rick) Gilbert of Cleveland, Ohio, George (Rosemary) Crisci of Cleveland, Ohio, Wayne Crisci of Atlanta, Georgia and Lorri (Jody) Cummins of Port Orange, Florida; seven cherished grandchildren, Vikki Peacock, Ryan Gilbert, Adam Gilbert, Michael Crisci, Matthew Crisci, Zachary Cummins, and Kristiana Cummins; brother, Mario DeVita and sister, Christina DeVita. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30AM, Monday January 18, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 4000 S. Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach with entombment immediately following at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Kent State University Foundation with memo to Pat Crisci Scholarship http://ksu.convio.net/Crisci
