Obituary

Patricia (Patti) Bissett, age 82, died after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 25th 2024, in her home in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Patti is survived by her son, Patrick Bissett (Ele), of Ft. Myers, Florida; daughter, Dawn Bissett, of Ft. Myers, Florida; son Clay Bissett (Courtney), of Bellbrook; Ohio; Grandson, Patrick Bissett Jr. of Austin; Texas, Granddaughter, Camryn Bissett of Venice; Florida, her grandson Chase Bissett, of Bellbrook, OH and her sister, Rita Baumgart of Mitchell, SD. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Bissett, of Kettering, Ohio.

Patti grew up on a small farm in Mitchell, South Dakota with seven brothers and one sister and then moved to Dayton, OH to stay with her brother who was stationed in Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She then met the love of her life, Joe Bissett and together created one of the most well-known restaurants in Dayton, Ohio “The Grub Steak”. It started out as a small bar and grill in 1963 and developed into one of the best steak houses in the Dayton area which thrived on their famous patented “Royal Ribs”. After her loving, kind soulmate, Joe passed away the Bissett family sold the businesses and she resided in Florida for the past 24 years.

Patti loved golf, and were members of Miami Valley Golf Club. She loved to look beautiful and took pride in her hair and nails. She loved to watch her favorite TV shows Let’s Make A Deal, The Price is Right, Texas Walker, Little House on the Prairie, Perry Mason, but most importantly she loved western tv shows and church on Sunday. Patti also loved to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes, go out to breakfast, people watch and spend time with her loving children and grandchildren. Patti loved the holidays, especially Christmas, so she could decorate her house with beautiful decorative trees, presents, ornaments and music. Patti’s greatest asset was her kindness, love, laughter and her superior generosity. She will be greatly missed.

There will not be any arrangements, however in lieu of flowers the children are setting up a go fund me page to donate a memorial tree as a way to commemorate Patti so she and her memory will be with us always.

While visiting family in Florida, we happened to be going through photos from long ago, and we found a couple of photos of Patti. We did a Google search and found this obituary. We are very saddened by her passing and were completely shocked! We had no idea. Our condolences go out to the family.
