Obituary
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Patricia (Pat) McCutcheon, precious dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered eternal rest peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 85.
Pat was born on September 19, 1938, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Paul and Mary Ann (Harcharic) Kolasky, the second of five children. The family moved to Newton Falls, Ohio, early in her childhood, and it is there that she met and married the love of her life and surviving spouse, Robert L. McCutcheon on June 18, 1960.
Pat earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Kent State University. While at Kent she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and the Women’s Varsity Field Hockey team that went undefeated for four consecutive years. Pat served diligently as a wonderful school teacher for 34 years, most notably at Champion High School in Champion, Ohio, where she coached Girls’ Softball and Volleyball, leading the girls to win two Ohio state softball championships.
Pat loved the Lord wholeheartedly and served for many years in various roles at the First Church of God in Newton Falls, Ohio, before retiring and moving with her husband Robert to Venice, Florida, in 2002, to be close to their children and grandchildren. She delighted in church activities and Bible studies.
Pat had a love for athletics and spent countless hours at ballfields and gymnasiums, both participating herself and being the unequaled fan of her husband, children, and grandchildren in competition. She was an enthusiastic golfer who enjoyed playing with family and with her lady friends. Pat found great joy in keeping a warm, inviting, and beautiful home and loved being outside gardening.
Pat was a beautiful woman who will be most remembered for her warm and engaging personality, her love of life, her beautiful smile and laugh, and her selfless commitment to others. She always gave immediate, unequivocal, unconditional love and assistance to her family and to others and asked for nothing in return. Her servant nature and generosity were immense.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, Robert L. McCutcheon, Pat will be supremely missed by her three children and their spouses, Robert B. & Olga McCutcheon, David B. & Adrienne McCutcheon, and Tricia (McCutcheon) Stanley & Dr. Richard, all of whom reside in the Sarasota, Florida, area. “Grandma Pat” will also be missed by her six adoring grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Robert A. McCutcheon & Brandi of Columbus, Ohio, Aaron McCutcheon of Denver, Colorado, Taylor McCutcheon of Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Jordan (Setliff) Han & Timothy of Temple, Texas, Kaylee (McCutcheon) Murph P. A. & Dylan of North Salt Lake, Utah, and David R. McCutcheon & Yamileth of Sarasota, Florida, and by her two great-grandchildren, Jason & Luke Han.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and by her two brothers, Paul Kolasky Jr. (Living spouse, Eve) and Dr. Robert Kolasky (Living spouse, Virginia), and she is survived by her two sisters Marianne (Kolasky) Cabosky & spouse, Robert of Meban, North Carolina, and Kathleen Kolasky of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ “
–John 11:25-26
