Obituary
Pat Brown, 81, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 after fighting cancer since 1999. She was born on October 8, 1938 in Brooklyn,
NY to Helen A. (Buckley) and Francis J. Brown. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Bay Shore High School in 1956. She attended Albany State College.
Working in retail, she started as a salesgirl at the Abraham & Strauss Babylon store and worked her way up to management there. She continued her career in retail management at Kennedy’s of Boston, Foxmoor, and D’Angelo’s after moving to Massachusetts in 1969.
She moved to The Villages in 2004. Here she enjoyed pickle ball, golf, bocce, cards, and line dancing. She was the CFO for the Golden Gals softball team. As a member of The United Church of Christ at The Villages, she acted as a recorder and as a shepherd.
She was a kind and generous person, hardworking and competitive, fair and by-the-book, a loyal friend. A whiz with figures, she always kept score at games and tallied the bill and tip at the restaurant. She was strong and brave to the end. Family and friends will miss her dearly.
Those who predeceased her were her parents, brothers John Brown and Frank Brown, sisters Jane Cole and Kathryn Abrams, and her partner of 30 years, Carolyn Bartlett.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Rickerby, Eileen (Irish) McCarthy, her partner of 20 years, and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at The United Church of Christ at 2:00 pm Saturday January 25, 2020 12514 CR 101 Oxford, Fl. to commemorate her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The UCC or a charity of your choice. Vitas Hospice tended to her, for which we are grateful.
