Obituary

–  devoted, listener, faithful, humble, best dressed, funny, hsn/qvc enthusiast, beautiful, voted best friend, fur mama, fortitude, courageous, compassionate, loyal, ambitious, swift, resilient –

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Patricia Eileen Sperry (Cummons) 77, who passed away in Daytona, FL on February 21, 2023. Adoring wife to husband James aka Jimmy, beloved Sister of one, Mother of two, Mother In Law- of three, Sister in Law – of two, Mom-Mom of nine, GiGi of one and Best Friend to so many…

Raised in Fishtown, went to Immaculate Conception and graduated from Bishop Neumann Business School at St. Peter’s the Apostle, Pat met the love of her life Jimmy of 60 years at the age of 13 in the neighborhood movie theatre when her best friend Dee “snitched” her out… the love story began she married at 17, had Jimmy at 18 and Michelle at 22 set-up roots in Fishtown, Northeast Philly, Smyrna, DE Jersey Shore Campgrounds and especially loved snowbirding in Daytona, FL.

Pat started working at 15 in the neighborhood Industrial Valley Bank, later moved to Basile Road in the Northeast, where her infamous Ladies Card Club was born.  In 1983 started working at Local 286 Paperworkers Union as a Pension/Health and Welfare Clerk where she called home for the next 40 yrs, she also managed to work double duty at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Nutrition/Dietetics for 30 yrs. so she could abundantly give to all those she loved.

Pat had incredible patience, always made time to help others and committed herself to living a life full of precious memories w/her family. She was a selfless woman whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive and love will be forever engrained in all she knew. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes if we choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

As a woman of faith, Pat reclaimed Jesus as her Lord and Savior while professing her love of God as the King of all Kings in March of 2020. She would love to be remembered with funny stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life.  Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of her Life held at St. Peter’s the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, Visitation from 9:30 10:30, Funeral Mass 10:30 -11:30am. The address is 1019 N. 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19123. Parking is available on-site.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to all4pawsrescue.com or even more importantly, an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need!!

“Thank you to my husband, children, grandchildren, great grandson, brother, sister-n-brother in law, daughter- n law, son- n law, family and to all my friends who I chose to be my family for teaching, loving and being w/me throughout my life” – Pat aka (Trishy, Mom, Mother, Mom-Mom, GiGi, Patty n Patty Cakes)

Harbour Beach Resort in Daytona Beach Shores has been our 2nd home for 4 years now. We met Pat & Jim the first week we arrived in Jan. 2020, and have been close friends ever since. I will cherish all the conversations poolside and memories together ( Art Festivals, Wine Walks, manicures/pedicures together, dinners out together).
Pat was a dear friend and 2nd mother to me while in Florida as well as keeping in touch throughout the years by text and phone calls. I miss her dearly! Her smile and upbeat personality was infectious and I looked forward to our poolside chats. My heartfelt prayers and daily thoughts go out to Jim and all of Pat's family during this difficult time. May there be comfort knowing that Pat is in heaven and whole again. Love to you all!

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Sperry’s passing - that’s what we all called her as teenagers hanging at her house. Her hose was always open and a home for all of us. My deepest sympathies to the entire Sperry family - related by blood and friendship. All were welcome because of Mrs. Sperry’s warmth.

To all of "Trishys" family . I truly don't know where to begin and there is not enough space here for all I could say about my coworker and friend, Pat. I don't have to tell any of you what an amazing person she was . Always the first to lend a hand to someone in need. We became fast friends when I began working with her in 1994 at Local 286. She was always talking about her family so I always felt like I was part of it knowing about each and every one of you. Pat was also a great listener . Her laugh was so contagious, so even if I didn't know what she was laughing at I would laugh. There is a huge hole left by her passing but she will always be in my heart. Love and miss you Pat.♥️
