Obituary

Kenney, Patrick Joseph, 68, of Cape Coral, Florida, closed his eyes to this world on July 8, 2020. Pat was the oldest child of George Kenney and Eleanor Arno. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Arno, who lovingly called him Patty Jo, and siblings, Colleen (Stephen) Tredway, Kerry (Tracy) Kenney, and Erin (Brent) Labreche. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pat was born on September 12, 1951 in Latrobe, PA. His family moved to Fort Myers in 1965. He graduated from Bishop Verot High School and went to work as a draftsman for Sprint, where he worked until his retirement. He lived with his mother in her home in Cape Coral since 1980.

Pat loved his dogs and cars. He is home now with his beloved dog, Tyler, pictured in the photo above. He was outgoing, friendly, funny, generous, and compassionate. He had the ability to draw people together with gossip, jokes and laughter. There was never a secret with Pat, and he always said what he meant and meant what he said. He was our one in a million and will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church on July 29, at 10:00am, with Celebrant Father Hugh. Graveside inurnment will follow in the Church garden. Family and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Lee County Domestic Animal Services, 5600 Banner Dr., Ft. Myers, FL, 33912.

I’ve known Pat for 20 years and during that time he’s gone from brother-in-law to brother and what a kind, intelligent, funny brother he is! I just hope they have the Turner Movie Channel where he is now and he gets to meet one of his favorites, who also recently arrived: Olivia deHavilland. Save me seat!

    Colleen Tredway says:
    My dear brother Pat,

How I miss you each and every day. Sometimes your passing feels so surreal and I find that I am waiting for you to come through our front door greeting and playing with Ike first. I often think about our last day together which was the Sunday before your passing. It was rare for you to visit without bringing some kind of treat either for us or for Ike. This time it was two delicious pies from Perkins which we all thoroughly enjoyed eating …thank you!

Like all families we had our tough times, disagreements and strife. But we also had so many more good times throughout our life together. You always moved us towards forgiveness because your love was much stronger than conflict or pride. You had a very large generous heart with me and my family and a willingness to meet any need whether it be emotional support, financial assistance, or gifts that you knew we would love.

You found it easy to engage with people you met anywhere and more often than not became friends. People loved you and enjoyed your often times ‘off-the-wall’ humor and personal connection with them. My experiences with you seeing these encounters was that each person felt ‘known and loved’.

Pat, I know that you suffered with many physical and emotional trials and I am relieved to know that you are no longer suffering. You are with Dad, Uncle Bob, and all your family and friends that went home before you. You can enjoy and play with your beloved pet, Tyler. Knowing this lightens my heavy heart and brings me a good measure of comfort but most of all as a Catholic Christian, I know you are blessed to see the face of our dear Lord and to have been presented to Him by your heavenly Mother Mary who was present to you as you left for home.

Rest in eternal peace now my brother and may eternal light always shine upon you!

    Much Love,
    Colleen

    Erin Labreche says:
Pat , you were not only my big brother, but my confidant and closest friend. You always made sure I had everything I needed. You took on the role of a father figure for me that I so desperately needed at that time in my life. . I loved riding around with you in your pink Cadillac blasting Diana Ross with your large hair blowing in the wind!!! I am so blessed we got to see her one last time in March.

Thank you for everything you did for not only my family but for mom. She loved you more than you will ever know. I promise to act more like a lady (I loved wrestling) and use my inside voice .. but I won’t cut my hair ‍♀️

I know you and Tyler are together again and that makes my heart ❤️ happy during this time.
I love you much, more, most!!!

Love , your little sister, Erin
(GO as you affectionately called me )
