Obituary

Paul C. Carlson was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 17, 2022 at 81 years old.

Paul was born on May 3, 1941 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Roger and Mamie (Forsberg) Carlson.  He graduated from Brockton High School in 1959, then served in the U.S. Military (Army) from 1959 – 1961.

Paul was Chairman of Beaver Cemetery in East Bridgewater, MA for many years.  He retired from TJX Companies where he worked for over 20 years and then looked forward to travelling with his wife including cruising with family members, Caribbean vacations and a 6 week cross-country trip.

Paul loved his family and many friends, singing in the church choir as well as Brother’s in Song, cooking and shell fishing on Cape Cod.

He was a long time member of Cape Cod Covenant Church in Brewster, Massachusetts before retiring and moving to The Villages in Florida where he was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and choir.

Paul’s warm personality and sense of humor made him a beloved neighbor of Rio Ranchero neighborhood.  He never knew a stranger; everyone he met would be his new best friend.  Paul enjoyed cards, dice and all neighborhood social gatherings as well as being involved in  The Villages Parkinson’s Exercise and Support Group and the friendships he developed there.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice Carlson, Son, David Carlson of Texas, Daughter, Tracy Rollins and husband Franklin (Bud) MacPhie of Lady Lake, Florida, and Son, David Rollins of Texas.  Also survived by grandchildren April Carlson, Faith Rollins and Benjamin Rollins and great-granddaughter Fallon Carlson.

Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. and will be streamed live at https://hope4all.church/live

In Lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, Florida.

Paul was a wonderful friend. We spent a lot of time together over the years and there was always shared lots of love and laughter. Whatever we did together we always had fun. He had a deep faith, loved playing games, singing in the choir and brought joy and laughter to everything he did. He deeply loved his dear wife Jan and his family. We know he’s at peace and rejoicing with his savior Jesus Christ. You will be greatly missed Paul. We love you,
    Bill and Margaret

We had many years of friendship with Paul. We have so many happy memories of the time we spent together. He was such a fun loving, kind and happy guy. When you think of Paul you think of his deep faith, his love of music and his pure enjoyment of life. He loved playing games, going to shows, going out to eat and singing in the choir. But most of all he loved his dear wife Jan and his family. We will miss him. We love you Paul,

    Bill and Margaret

Paul was part of a small group of close friends known as The Breakfast Club. We met every Wednesday morning for breakfast and good conversation where we shared our experiences of the last few days. Although our neighborhood was small we were an active and involved community and Paul was an integral and important part of that community. Paul loved to sing. Paul loved his wife. Paul was a good neighbor. Paul loved to cook. Paul was always at our monthly neighborhood gatherings. Paul always attended our local driveway parties. Paul enjoyed life. Paul was a good friend and a good man. Paul will be missed.

Paul was a great pleasure to know. He was a strong pillar of Cape Cod Covenant Church. His devotion to his faith and family was very deep. However, he never wore his faith on his sleeve but allowed it to show in his daily commitments and works. He will be remembered and sorely missed.

My wife Shelby and I hadn’t known Paul for very long, we met him through our good friends Bud and Tracy, but he was indeed the type of person that once you met him, it felt like you were old friends. He always had funny little anecdotes or some quirky words of wisdom to bestow. He and his lovely wife Janice were always a joy to be around at Bud and Tracy’s gatherings. He will truly be missed.
