Obituary
Paulette Davis, 63, passed away peacefully with her three daughters by her side on Sunday, October 30th 2022. She was born to Michael and Emmiline (Oliphant) Davis in St. Mary, Jamaica, West Indies on December 10, 1958.
Paulette moved to Queens, New York in the mid 80’s where she worked devotedly to raise her three daughters before retiring in Port Charlotte, FL in 2012.
Paulette was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends. She delighted in all things green. Over the span of 10 years, she transitioned her backyard from grass and dirt patches to a garden full of callaloo, lemongrass, sweet and sour sop trees, an olive tree, yams, squash, banana trees, papaya trees and so much more. It was her goal to eventually live off her land.
As a lover of all aspects of nature, she could almost always be found in her garden or sitting in her lanai bird watching, singing, meditating, and praying in the fresh and open air.
Paulette was a woman of strong faith. She had a vibrant and energetic personality and was known for her big bright smile, huge hearty laugh, and her desire for helping others. Paulette touched many lives with her passion for life, love, and peace.
Paulette was predeceased by her parents and brother Desmond Davis. She is survived by her daughters, Noreen Collins, Theasha Gibbs, and Mellisa Colbourn, and five siblings, Roy Davis, Pauline Davis, Joy Davis Christian, John Davis, and Richie Davis.
The Celebration of Life and Burial will be held at Venice Memorial Garden on November 18th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wunder Farms Organic Community Gardens at Allendale Methodist Church, an organization whose mission Paulette felt strongly about. Wunder Farms is a community-based organization in the Tampa Bay area, dedicated to providing the most nutrient-dense produce to the neediest population in the community.
