Obituary

Pauline Sylvia (Cunningham) Reid passed away peacefully with her daughter Linda by her side on August 23, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida. Pauline was born on October 11, 1930, in Wampum, Pennsylvania to parents John and Iva Belle (Stickle) Cunningham. She married James Raymond Reid on February 6, 1948.

In the late 1980s, Pauline realized her dream of working as a travel agent, helping others plan business trips, honeymoons, and vacations. This helped her fund excursions of her own to India, Europe, Central America, and most of the United States. She continued to travel with family and friends into her early 90s.

After Pauline’s husband passed in 1999, she split her time between Chicago, Illinois, and Florida to enjoy cooler summers and warmer winters. She remained close to her immediate and extended family by attending sporting events, weddings, holiday gatherings, reunions, and the funerals of those who passed before her.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Linda and Ken Barnas of Fort Myers, Florida, and Bonnie Reid and Paul Audia of Chicago, Illinois, and two sons and their spouses, Jim and Susan of Simpsonville, Kentucky, and Tom (TJ) and Marta of Statesboro, Georgia, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, son John, and brothers Wally, Joe, and Harry Cunningham.

Pauline was “Mum Reid” to many; she welcomed and enjoyed whoever came to her door.

A celebration of life will be held in New Castle, Pennsylvania at a time and place to be determined. If you wish to donate in Pauline’s name, please choose the charity of your choice or any charity seeking a cure for cancer.

Pauline was such a joy to be with, she always fight in with the group. I always loved bringing her Krispy Kreme doughnuts, her favorite. She definitely will be missed by all of us, but we know she is without pain in the arms of our Lord. Deepest sympathy goes out to her entire family, but especially her very loving & caring daughter, Linda. She devoted her life to taking care of her Mom.
    Love, Lynne & Bob

What a genuinely sweet privilege and pleasure it has been to know and love Pauline as my second mother the last 13 years! She was a delight to be around and always had a loving smile and warm hug to share! She will be missed greatly but I rejoice that she is finally home either her beloved husband and resting in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. A special acknowledgement of her loving daughter Linda who took such tender care of her mother for years! May God smile on her for the unwavering care and support she unselfishly provided!
