Obituary

Peggy E Smith (79) passed away on July 22, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Parrish, Florida, surrounded by family.

Peggy was born in Holden, Missouri on August 26th, 1944.  She spent the majority of her growing up years in Warrensburg, Missouri.  After her marriage, she moved many times to many places across the country,  but her favorite move was the three and a half years spent in The Netherlands.  After returning to the States, she began her career with The Jones Store Company as a sales clerk, and retired from there as the store secretary.

Known for her infectious laugh, her love of books, knick knacks, puzzles, cats, wildflowers, British TV, and above all –  her family, Peggy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  She had the innate ability to make everyone feel comfortable and loved – the absolute epitome of the word “Mom”.

She is survived by her loving children, Alan (Pam Orth) Smith and Michelle (Todd) Edwards; her cherished grandchildren, Jacqui (Jordan) Bryant and Kala Thomson; her adored great grandchildren, Carter, Riley, and Ashlyn Bryant; her beloved sisters, Judy Bartlett and Debbie (Dale) Reynolds, and a symphony of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Elmer and Marjorie Bedsaul; and an infant brother, William.

Peggy requested that no formal service be held, so she will be celebrated in a private family gathering.
