Obituary
Peter Gaspers, a former NASA scientist, passed away October 17, 2017 at The Villages Hospice House. His death resulted from complications due to advanced Parkinson’s disease. Peter was born in Chicago, IL and attended schools in Chicago, Rushville, Nebraska, and Irrigon, Oregon. He went on to graduate from Oregon State University in 1959 with a degree in physics and later did graduate work at Stanford University. After two years in the army at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico he joined NASA’s Ames Research Center in the San Francisco Bay area and worked there until he retired in 1994. Peter enjoyed hiking, tennis, running, skiing, gardening and world travel. Upon retiring from NASA Peter moved to Reno, Nevada. Through his participation with the Sierra Club he met and married Marsha J. Rouse in 2005. They resided in Reno, Nevada and The Villages, Florida. Peter is survived by his wife, Marsha, stepdaughters Jennifer and Wendy, grand girls Anna, Claire and Jolie and siblings Meg, Michael and Joe.
