Obituary

Peter Carn Denvers (76), of Umatilla, Florida went home to the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2018. Peter was born in Reading, England on June 28, 1942 to Alfred and Violet Symonds. All of his life, Peter was known for being warm-hearted and generous with an incredible sense of humor. It was that sense of humor that often made him the very center of attention, which is exactly where he wanted to be. Peter was a very gifted musician, be it on keyboards, bass or guitar. Music just made him so happy as he played for both entertainment as well as in service to his faith and church.

Peter was very funny and quirky, and though he was born in England, he was absolutely convinced that he was meant to be a cowboy! So much in fact, that he preferred country western music and one of his favorite musicians was Hank Williams, Sr. Though he did not care for sports, Peter was a very avid Dallas Cowboys fan. What he really wanted though was his very own horse because he just loved the beautiful creatures and maybe that was the missing piece to becoming a cowboy.

When Peter and Dianne married, both had children already, but all that meant to Peter was just more people to love and possibly also pick on in a very good-natured way. The family could not go out to eat without him teasing the waitresses or servers, telling them they better be good or no tip! Then of course he would turn around and over-tip, especially if the server would tease and throw it back at him. Even in the hospital, he’d tickle the nursing staff with some of the off-the-wall things he would say. Often, Dianne would be treated to a play-by-play of “What Peter said today!” by the nurses, as it was painfully obvious that he had to be a ham and make people laugh regardless of the circumstances. There will never be another one like Peter, as the Lord made him as genuine and unique as they come. It is Peter’s unique brand of light, love and laughter that shall forever be missed.

Peter is predeceased in death by his parents, Alfred Symonds and Violet Matilda Symonds (Cole); by his siblings, John Symonds and Valery Wheeldon.

He is survived by his partner and loving wife, Dianne E. Denvers (Tietgens); by his children Rick, Lee, Glen, Paula Symonds and Peter Jr.; by his step-children: Mark, Rodney Newell, Kelly Brumbaugh; by his sister, Gill Pearce; and by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Peter will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at 42422 Meadowood Road, Altoona, FL.
