Obituary

Peter C. Iellamo, 81, of Fort Myers, FL and former resident of Springfield, MA died peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022. At his bedside were his nieces Carol McCarthy and Linda Sleeper also of Fort Myers. He was born in Springfield on June 11, 1941, to Giuseppe and Nellie (Zucco) Iellamo. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel grammar school and was graduated from Trade High School in Springfield. Following school, he had a career in store management with Growers Outlet/Big Y Supermarkets before retiring to Florida where he made his home. In his retirement years he enjoyed his Floridian lifestyle of sun and travel with his longtime friend Robert Slater who predeceased him in 2006. His cocker Spaniel Pooh Bear brought him many years of joy and companionship.

He was a member of the St. Columbkille Roman Catholic parish. Over the years in Florida, peter developed many close friendships with neighbors in the communities in which he lived, including Cinnamon Cove and Brookdale Lakes Park.

Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick Iellamo, Joseph Iellamo and his twin brother Paul Iellammo; his sisters, Frances Carestia, Mary St. Germaine, Nancy Scully, Catherine Maloney and Carmella Salvon also predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters in law Anne Marie Iellamo and Barbara Iellamo, along with a brother-in-law, Roger St. Germain, and many nieces and nephews.

His nieces Carol and Linda would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the staffs at Brookdale Assisted Living Lakes Park and Hope Hospice Care Center in Fort Myers, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice Health Care Center 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.

Baldwin Brothers will finalize arrangements and final resting place will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery​in Springfield, Massachusetts.
