Obituary
Lt. Colonel(ret.) Peter John “Jack” Burner passed away on April 18, 2023 at home in Ocala, FL. He was born on September 28, 1945 to his parents Robert Burner and Alma Lavigne Burner in Portland, ME. He graduated from Falmouth High School in Falmouth, ME in 1963. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree from the University Of Maine in 1969 and later on in life a Masters Degree from the University of Southern California.
After graduation from college, Jack entered the Marine Corp. In his 20 year career with the Marines, he held many positions rising from the rank of 2nd lieutenant to the rank of Lt. Colonel at the time of his retirement in 1989. He was the Director of Supply Operations for the Defense Supply Center at the time of his retirement from the Marines.
After leaving the Marine Corp, he held many different positions in supply chain management with several different companies including Walmart, Ryder Logistics and Apple before moving to Florida and starting his own real estate brokerage firm. He enjoyed many activities including hiking, horse back riding, tennis, golf and reading. He also enjoyed writing poetry.
Jack is survived by his wife Pam Burner of Ocala, FL, sons Derek Burner of Ocala, FL, Tyler (Heather) Burner of Bluffton, SC, daughter Fallon Burner of Williamsburg, VA and grandchildren Corrin and Kaiden Burner of Bluffton, SC. He also leaves behind many extended family members and many good friends and his beloved canine companions Blaze and Lila.
Jack was a kind, generous, thoughtful man who touched many people and will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held on May 20,2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Marion County.
