Obituary
Peter A. Korelich, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, formerly of Eau Claire, Michigan died on August 6, 2024 at 84 years old. He was born in Los Angeles, California to the late Pete and Lilly (Munguia) Korelich.
Peter lived his early years in San Pedro, California, but spent much of is his youth and early adult years in Eau Claire, Michigan, where he was loved and raised by his mother and step-father, who both preceded him in death.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Engineering from Michigan Technological University and Western Michigan University respectively. He married the former Julie Adele Beckwith on November 18, 1977 at Whitmore Lake, Michigan and she survives. Together they traveled extensively, taking a memorable trip to Italy and spending their summers in Asheville, North Carolina. He had a successful career in engineering for the utility industry for 39 years.
He was Director of Engineering and Chief Engineer at the Utilities Commission, City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, before his retirement in 2002. During his career as a Professional Engineer, he was in involved in various projects in Michigan, Ohio, Texas, and Florida.
He was a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers, and past president of the New Smyrna Beach Rotary Club and the Florida Municipal Electric Association. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the New Smyrna Beach Country Club. Mr. Korelich enjoyed using the computer and the internet. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, and was a flying enthusiast in his earlier days as a licensed airline pilot. He was also an amateur landscape oil painter.
Surviving are his loving wife, Julie,his sons Michael and James (Mischelle); one daughter Kathryn Anne, Brother Dean Corbett; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Corbett; step daughter, Heather (Omar) Barsimantov; one niece Desiree (Eric) Lindblom; one nephew Dylan Korelich ; Brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Jan Locke. He was preceded in death by his mother; Lily Karn ; stepfather; Ralph Karn and father; Peter Korelich
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday August 22, 2024 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society from 10 – 11:00am. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Sea Pines Cemetery, Edgewater, FL
I will miss you but you are now in God's arms and he will take good care of you. I'm not going to say Goodbye cause I'm sure I'll see you again.
I am sad you had to leave us, but you are in a much better place and God's arms are around you now and taking care of you now.
This is not a final goodbye, but just a sad so long...
Happy times are ahead, filled with wonderful memories of all of us together...
