Peter P. Beck, 83 of Edgewater, Florida, formally of Long Island, N.Y. died peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2014. A Military Memorial Service will be held at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place, 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Thursday January 30, 2014 at 4:00pm.
Peter was born July 26, 1930 in College Point N.Y. to Matthew and Susanna (Ehardt) Beck. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. Peter joined the Army and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge he went to work for a glass company in Long Island. Not long after, Peter formed his own successful glass contracting company in New York City and served as owner operator until his retirement. Peter was a volunteer firefighter as well as secretary and treasurer of the Nissequogue Fire Department on Long Island. He was awarded many plaques for his contributions. He was a member of The Combat Infantryman's Association, the American Legion as well as the Edgewater-New Smyrna Beach BPOElk's Lodge 1557. Peter is survived by his children, Philip Beck of Edgewater, Florida, Todd Beck of Dillion, Colorado, Laura Condon of Binghamton, N.Y. and Karissa Broderick Beck of Long Island, N.Y.
Also a brother George Beck, his step children Edward Obarowski and Joanne (Obarowski) Burger, nephews Timothy and Geoffrey Foote, five grandchildren and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine (Obarowski) Beck and his sister Margaret (Foote) Beck.
