Obituary

Peter Santangelo, Jr. passed away suddenly Sept. 26, at 54 years old.

He was born and grew up in the Middletown, CT. area until 1999 when he moved to Daytona Beach, FL. with his fiance, Lori. They had attended many Daytona Bike Weeks and decided they liked the Florida weather so much that they wanted to stay.

Pete, or “Thinman”, as he was known as to many of his old friends, was an avid motorcyclist and loved to play pool, and he was quite good at it. He was also a strong supporter of second amendment rights.

Pete took everything to heart and had a heart of gold and was always ready to help his friends.

Pete is survived by his fiance Lori McPherson of Daytona Beach and her sons Jason and Daniel, his wife Sarah, of CT. , his Mom and Dad, Peter Sr. and Barbara Santangelo of Daytona Beach, his sister Chari Santangelo and her children Lucas, Nick, and Rachel of Newington, CT., Dennis Santangelo of Daytona Beach and his sons Dennis Jr. and Christopher of CT. , and Marcey Santangelo of Daytona Beach and her son Jacob of CT., and his nephew/brother Scott of Portland, CT., and his aunts and uncles.

He is also survived by his many sweet furry babies.

There is a guest book available if anyone would like to leave a few words about Pete.

He will be missed.

I am so sad to hear about Pete. It was so unexpected. I will miss you Pete. I was so happy to finally make your Daytona party last year, after you invited me every year after year. I was looking forward to seeing you this next party. I hadn't seen you for along time and we talked about how we are related by our grandparents. I enjoyed seeing your mom and meeting Lori too.
    Miss you already.
    RIP sweet Pete.

My deepest condolences to Lori, Dennis and family. I have known Pete since 1994 when I was a Army recruiter in Middletown, Ct. I enjoyed playing pool against Pete as we played on opposing teams (Dennis' team) A game against Pete was always a challenge as he was no slouch. I left Connecticut in 1996 and have stayed in touch with Pete and Lori since. Pete and Lori were kind enough to open their home to me and a friend in 2009 for Biketoberfest. My wife and I were lucky enough to visit Daytona Beach quite a few times, visited their bar as well. I have had the chance more often to visit as I worked for a defense Contractor in the Daytona Beach area and every time I made the trip for work I looked forward to the trip because I knew I'd get to see Pete and Lori. I have recently seen a post about a "Celebration of Life" to take place during this years Biketoberfest which is so fitting as they throw one hell of a BBQ!!! I have only been able to make one of them since I live in Colorado but you can tell how much Pete and Lori are loved because of the always LARGE turnout. I am still trying to find a way to make it this year, but it's not looking good. Brother, you'll be greatly missed, Godspeed my friend. Practice up, I'll see you again one day, you can break,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Wow! I’m so sorry to hear this news from the left coast after all these years! Pete and I used to hang out at the Red Dog Salloon in Middlefield, Ct. back in the 80’s. Being local boys, we knew everyone in the area and the regulars at most of the bars in and around town. As Motorcyclist we had common interest we decided to form a club that was affiliated with a group from Texas called A.R.M. It’s a group that is for God, Family,Brotherhood, and Sobriety. We already was in a group call N.C.M.C. Out of the Red Dog which is No Class Motorcycle Club. Which was an open group of friends that loved riding and having fun!
Pete was always great to hang around with, and would come around my Auto repair shop in Meriden,Ct. just to hang out and keep our bikes maintained.
I changed my life and decided to move to Southern California in 1986. I lost touch with Pete until the last year or so on Facebook. I was so excited to know he was around in Florida and that I was planning on moving in that area in the few months and was going to catch up with an old friend again. Unfortunately time waits for no one. He’ll be missed. Enjoy your ride my friend!

Pete, I still remember the night I met you all those years ago. You had the purple pickup truck. I liked you right away and knew my best friend Lori was in good hands. You were a big teddy bear with a huge heart. It’s so so wrong that you left us. But you are now that bright star shining down upon us. Such a beautiful soul. You will be missed by so many. RIP Thin Man.

No matter what a obit says " born 1964 - died 2018 " the ONLY thing that matters is the dash ( - ). This is where we all have the opportunity to get to know the rough exterior and the truly caring heart of Pete. A man that stuck to his beliefs, family and would always give the best advise whenever needed. There will never be another one like him . As for Lynda and myself we were blessed to experience his rude, crude and socially unacceptable humor. What a great guy. Miss you buddy.

Pete was a big teddy bear with a sharp wit, a quirky sense of humor, and a big heart. He was also a smart and skilled Scrabble player, a good pool team captain, and he loved Texas brownies. My favorite thing about him was that he was a big softy with kids and critters. Pete was funny. I have a funny memory of playing on his 9-ball team at a bar/restaurant that had the worst karaoke on the planet. He dubbed one of the singers "goat girl" and did a pretty fair imitation of her. I'll miss the Pete part of Pete-n-Lori. RIP Petey.

I will never forget the first time Pete saw Nala and Sassy. I was love at first sight and although Lori said it was only temporary, I knew they found their forever home! Truly a man who loved his animals!

Pete was our first born child. What a joy he was when he was born and growing up. I loved him then with all my heart then and continue to love him today and always with all my heart.
I used to tell my children that I never wanted to see any of them go before me. He didn't listen, did he?
When his time came, no farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye. He was gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
We will miss you every day Pete.
    Love always,
    Mom & Dad

Lori, Barbara, and all of the Santangelo family - I have been at a loss for words. Saying that I am so sorry for your loss just doesn't seem to be enough. Richard and I wish we could be there in person to hug and cry with you. Please know, we thought the world of Pete. Although our friendship doesn't go back as far as many, being friends on fb allowed me to really get to know him and his huge heart. May your memories carry you through this very difficult time.

My wife Carla I have know Peter for several years. We shared the same passion for motorcycles, pool, BBQ's, and furry four legged free loaders. I enjoyed the time I spent with Pete and learned a few tricks on the pool table while play on his team, though I rarely won a game playing against him. Recently Pete and Lori needed some help on a home improvement project and I was able to lend a hand. I know he would have done the same if the roles were reversed. I am going to miss his wit and contagious energy. I will miss having dinners and fun conversations. I will miss hearing "Hey Normy" from that unforgettable voice. God Speed Peter. Full throttle, 5th gear. Love you...
