Obituary

Born in Brooklyn NY, Pete grew up in Syracuse NY. A five-star athlete all his life from high school on into College @ Syracuse University. He would go on to serve a tour in the United States Army and in 1954 marry his life’s true love, Patricia (Cassell) Sarubbi. Settling in Rochester NY to raise their family they remained “joined at the hip” for their 69 years of Marriage. Upon moving to the Villages some 23 years ago, Pete continued his love of sports with participating in volleyball, golf, bocci, sports card club, and of course the local and State Senior Games, always with his “cheering squad” there to watch him win his Golds with pride!

Pete is survived by his wife Patricia, Sister Anna Vincelli, Sons Mick, Tim, and Bill (Teresa), and daughter Lynda (Dan) Crespo, 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren along with many cherished friends, all of whom he loved immensely. He was a man who continually had a project in the works was the life of any party or casual get together, treasured pictures to preserve a memory in time, who always made special memories with those he loved, and he will be remembered as a friend to all who met him. He will be greatly missed.

Services to be held at a later date.

Always remembered, never forgotten. As time passes, it doesn't get any easier to try to express our feelings for Pete. What a friend! How many times we saw him at the polo grounds the past months when he could find an hour or two to throw. He always had a quip or story to relate and a progress report, and that big smile. Great sense of humor. He loved telling about how he had movies made of his family pictures and at Christmas time set up chairs in the garage, popped corn, and made the family sit there and watch his "movies". That time must be treasured by family now. We treasure our time with you. Still missing you, Pete.

Dear Pat and Family, I am so sorrowed by the passing of your husband and my friend Pete. He is to be admired and was a true gentleman. Knowing him from the Collectibles Club and Senior Olympics has been an honor. As an athlete he is my idol - I have one gold medal over the years, Pete got several every year. Sharing Yankee memories and collectibles was a pleasure. He will be sorely missed. Our prayers go out to you and your family during these difficult times. May he rest in peace

Our sincere condolences to Pete's family. We have known Pete for many years now since moving to The Villages. He would come to the Polo field where we trained for javelin and would give us so many tips about throwing. We definately learned so much from his knowledge of javelin. He was so patient with us, especially Stella. We always enjoyed being with him both at the Polo fields with discus and shot put, and at our track. He was such a kind, giving, wonderful person who we will truly miss. Fly with the angels Pete, you will always be in our hearts and memories. Mort & Stella O'Shea

We loved watching this guy at track and field and volleyball. He would tell us how much he really enjoyed participating. In volleyball, Pete would tell me to set him away from the net a little, that he needs some extra room for the approach and swing of his spike! he will be very much missed!

Grandpa instilled in me a love for art, for sports and for dancing (he sure knew how to tear up a dance floor!)
I’ll always remember him smiling, his laugh and his love for family and cherish the sweet times we spent together. ❤️ He chose to make ‘memories’ every time we were together and it was always special.
I loved you then, I love you now and will love you forever.
    ~Gina
