In Loving Memory of
Peter Teune Jr
1936 – 2023
Peter Teune Jr, was 86 years young, he left us on May 13, 2023.
After battling a long illness he was able to be at home
surrounded by his family before going home to the Lord.
Peter graduated from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine
in 1963. He practiced as a family practice physician, first in the
Roseland neighborhood of Chicago, then in South Holland and
Hazel Crest Illinois. He delivered many babies and treated people
of all ages. He was beloved by his patients who were dismayed
when he announced his retirement. He was able to retire in 2004
and enjoyed the last 16 years of retirement in Port Charlotte
Florida fishing and golfing as often as he could.
He was a lover of sports both as a participant and a spectator.
He loved baseball and basketball and was a coach to all of his
sons in those sports. He enjoyed watching his children and
grandchildren at their various sporting events. He was very proud
to tell the story of how he was offered a contract as a pitcher with
the Chicago White Sox, but ultimately he made the decision to
go to medical school.
He loved his family and was known to worry about everyone he
cared about. He was thought of as a kind man with a friendly
disposition. Peter was always ready to go on to the next activity,
it was hard for him to sit still for too long unless he was watching
his beloved sporting events. He enjoyed traveling and visiting
with his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Teune and
Sadie Teune (Née Schaaf).
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Deborah Teune (Née Ruff),
his children, Linda (Kevin) Small, Peter Steven (Veronica) Teune,
Craig (Donna) Teune, Ross (Dawn) Teune, Pamela (Michael) Kelly,
Kristin (Stephen) Brakespear and Benjamin Teune. He is also
survived by his first wife Karon Hunt (Née Bolthouse),
his sisters Carol (Peter) Bishop and Phyllis (Gordon) Schultze.
He had 13 grandchildren who loved him: Miranda, Colin, Christoper,
Nicolas, Mica, Kayla, Wendy, Kendra, Connor, Kyle, Logan,
Preston and Nellie.
He will be forever in our hearts as we live each day to make him proud.
“Don’t be sad for what you have lost, be grateful that it was once yours.”
