Obituary
Phyllis Clement Patten, 69, of Eustis, Florida passed away July 9,2017. Phyllis was born in Corpus Christi Texas, on September 11, 1947, to William and Caroline Clement.
She graduated from Desoto County High School in 1965 then attended University of Florida and University of Miami where she received her Bachelors Degree in Childhood Education. Phyllis received two masters and a specialist degrees in Education Administration from Florida Atlantic University and continued doctoral work at Nova Southeastern University.
Phyllis began her career in education as an elementary school teacher in Manatee County, Florida. She successfully continued her work in the education field in the Broward County School District and administered Special Education Programs in one of four district areas and was a three term member of Lake County School Board.
She worked in the community through the Golden Triangle Republican Women’s Network and was a volunteer at Cornerstone Hospice offering psychological counseling.
Phyllis was Certified Master Naturalist through UF/IFAS and enjoyed and appreciated plants, gardening. She was also an outstanding Gourmet Cook, an avid reader, a watercolor artist and loved art in all forms. But most of all she cherished her sons, her family and all of her friends.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Russell Stephen Patten; Sons, Andrew Dean (Amanda) Patten and Ryan Stephen Patten; Grandsons, Wesley Russell Patten and William Andrew Patten; sister, Bobbie Clement (Scott) Mears; brother, Edward Thornton Clement.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

We were roommates at U of F, then in Coconut Grove and Miami for almost 3 years I have special memories of that together.
Then our lives went in different directions and I moved to New York for 34 years and Phyllis studied and settled in Broward County. Sending prayers and my deepest sympathies to you,and your sons and their families on your tremendous loss.
