Obituary
Phyllis K. (Pierce) Mathews of The Villages, Florida passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior, October 28, 2022. She was 80 years old.
Born at home, in New Kensington, PA., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Aftanas) Pierce. She was a Christian and of the Presbyterian faith. A strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, along with family were the two things most important to her in life.
She was a 1960 graduate of New Kensington High School. She married Douglas Mathews in 1964 and moved to CA. Soon after, returning to Pa., she moved to Harrisville, Pa. with her husband and family. She was a self-employed full-service Notary Public for more than 30 years and co-owner, with her husband, of Harrisville Memorials for 18 years. She fully retired in 2004 and moved to Florida with her husband. She greatly enjoyed golfing with the girls and playing card games, especially Mah Jongg.
She is survived, and will always be loved and remembered, by her husband Doug and two children, her daughter Deneen, Florida and her son Dean and wife Kathy, Virginia as well as three grandchildren, Nick and wife Savannah, Arkansas and Jessica and Joshua, Virginia. She is survived by one sister, Margaret and one brother, Harry, both of Pa., along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by four sisters – Elizabeth, Helen, Estella Mae and Shirley and one brother – Herbert Jr.
There will be no visitation. Final resting place will be in Harrisville “Prairie” Cemetery, Harrisville, Pa.
