Obituary
Priscilla Gibbs Williamson
On December 6, 2023, Priscilla Gibbs Williamson, 96, peacefully passed away in Port Orange, FL, with daughter Martha holding her hand. Priscilla was born, raised and lived the first 80 years of her life in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. She was born to Leland and Edna Gibbs, and she married Wm. Joseph “Joe” Williamson in 1953. Together they lovingly raised their four children. Priscilla and Joe met through the game of bridge and played together throughout almost their entire married life. Priscilla held a number of administrative assistant roles including finalizing her working career with several years at a law firm and the Law Library Services Group, until their move to DeLand, FL in 2007.
Priscilla loved people: meeting, learning about, listening to, and sharing with them. She had a heart for service and volunteered for Meals on Wheels as a driver as well as serving on their Board of Directors. She was active at her churches in Pennsylvania as well as Florida, serving on the vestry, supporting the altar guild and singing in the choir. After Joe passed away, Priscilla passionately ran a support group for caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s.
The friends she collected over her lifetime were very important to her. Family, however, meant the world to her. She wholeheartedly loved her children and their families. She felt great joy through times spent with them as well as with all of her nieces and nephews.
All who knew Priscilla quickly understood her sweet nature, her intelligence, her sense of humor, her limitless optimism, continual appreciation, and her genuine smile. She is survived by her children, Bill (Cheryl) Williamson, Martha (Chuck) Nighswonger, Nancy Brown, Heather (Jeff) Witters, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 3 step granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, along with seven special nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at a later date at The Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia. In lieu of giving flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to: donate@curealz.org Cure Alzheimer’s.
