RALPH DANIEL PETERSON

age 92, of DeLand, Florida, formerly of Spartanburg, SC , passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Florida Hospital DeLand Hospice care after a short illness. He was born in Chesnee, SC on July 14, 1926 to Noah and Flora Pittman Peterson of Chesnee, SC, where he attended Chesnee High School. Ralph was retired from his business as contractor/owner of Peterson Builders. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church, New Smyrna Beach, FL where he was an Elder. Ralph was a kind hearted man willing to help others. He loved to travel to Florida in his younger years and he always dreamed of living in Florida so in 1971 Ralph packed up the family, moved them to a new home in South Daytona where they resided for 17 years. From there Ralph moved the family to Edgewater, Fl where he and his son built many houses. He then moved his family to Palm Coast, FL where he would build his last home. Then in 2011 he moved his family for the last time to DeLand, FL to be near his daughter, son-in-law and his pride and joy, one of his grandsons. For many years he loved traveling with family and friends to the Great Smokey Mountains whenever he could. He also loved trips to Las Vegas to see his grandson, his other pride and joy. Ralph traveled to almost ever state in America during his life. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Sara White Peterson, son Jerry of Palm Coast, daughters Judy of DeLand, Gail (Calvin) Rhodes of DeLand, and predeceased by Glenda (Steve) Cocks, two grandsons Chad (Ashley) Rhodes of DeLand and Allen (Kellie) Cocks of Las Vegas, NV. Brothers, Max (Beverly) of Chesnee, SC, John of Chesnee, SC, sister Betty (David) Rogers of Lexington, SC, He was predeceased by brothers Bob of Chesnee, SC, Gene (Pat) of Duncan, SC, Joseph of Chesnee, SC, Sisters, Ruby(Myles) Towery of Winston Salem, NC, Juanita (Jerry) Martin of Bakersfield, CA, Ann (Wayne) Lawter of Chesnee, SC and Rose Mary Peterson of Chesnee, SC. Ralph has many nieces and nephews all over the United States. And close and loving long time family friends Ms Barbara Bevis of Palm Coast, FL and Mr. David Lamb of Chesnee, SC. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1 PM in the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home – 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL
