Obituary

Ralph Earl Schweitzer, 73, of Tavares, Florida, peacefully passed away on September 23, 2022, at 8:14 a.m. surrounded by loved ones.

Ralph was born on May 28, 1949, to the late Arthur F. and Dorothy M. (Buehler) Schweitzer in Reading, Pennsylvania.

He lived in the Greater Reading Area until 2018 when he and his wife, Cheryl (Slegowski), relocated to Florida to be close to his children and avoid the harsh Northern winters. Ralph began his career working at Marshall Chevrolet. He continued his mechanical experiences at multiple establishments within the Reading area, last working at Vision in Leesport. Throughout his many years of working on cars, he received numerous Automotive Certificates and Recognitions.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Schweitzer; his brothers, William A. Schweitzer and Arthur E. Schweitzer; his sister, Sherry L. (Schweitzer) Koch; and his brother-in-law, Walter A. Slegowski.

Ralph leaves behind his wife and best friend of 35 years, Cheryl; his daughter, Michelle L., wife of Vincent S. Evanna, Ocoee, and son, Matthew R., husband of Lucia A. Schweitzer, Orlando; his three step-daughters, Michele M., wife of Rich Schaeffer, Mohrsville, Valarie A. Dundore, Shartlesville, and Traci A. Rhoads, Temple; his brothers, Ronald A., husband of Judy Schweitzer, West Reading, and Kenneth L., husband of Susan Schweitzer, West Reading; his sister, Nancy A. (Schweitzer) Gordon, Reading; and his brother-in-law, Brian J. Slegowski, Reading.

Ralph has been in my life for 35 of my 50 years and I can count how many times I saw him angry on less than one hand. He just always seemed to be smiling and laughing and I'm so glad for that image of him. We spent a lot of time together as I was growing up and I'm thankful and appreciative that I had the honor of knowing and loving him. I wish I had seen him recently, as well as had the chance for a proper goodbye, but there's no doubt I loved him tremendously and will miss him so much. I'm grateful for him being good to mom and happy that he had the chance to live closer to his kids in Florida the past few years. It goes without saying that, one week ago, we lost one very special man and that so many lives will never be the same. I love you Ralph! RIP
