Obituary
Randall Wayne Gastfield, 71, passed away from a heart attack on July 6, 2024 in Orlando, Florida. Randy was born on April 28, 1953 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to George and Joan Gastfield. After George’s active duty in the Air Force was completed in 1955, the family returned to their home state of Florida. They spent several years living in Cocoa before eventually settling in Orlando.
Randy’s curiosity, creativity, and exceptional memory enabled him to become well-versed in seemingly any skill or topic. His strong mind led him to the University of Florida, where he would graduate from in 1975. He remained an avid supporter of all Florida Gators athletic teams throughout his entire life. He rarely missed any televised Gator baseball, football, or basketball games. He loved making trips up to Gainesville with family and friends, where they could cheer on the Gators in person.
A master craftsman, Randy was adept in a wide variety of domains. He was a skilled fisherman, artist, cook, storyteller, skier, marksman, kayaker, and outdoorsman. Fishing was his favorite hobby. He not only enjoyed fishing as an activity but additionally found joy crafting his own custom rods and lures.
Randy was faithful to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, until his death. He taught Bible Study at church for many years. He also served as a Cub Scout den leader and Boy Scout scoutmaster, acting as a positive role model and mentor for boys in the programs.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents George and Joan Gastfield. He is survived by his son, Garrett Gastfield (fiancée, Sydney), and sister, Margie Thompson. He is also survived by his nephew, Ryan (wife, Trish), and niece, Erin.
The date for a celebration of life is still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Randy’s memory to Kissimmee Christian Church: https://kissimmeechristianchurch.org/give
