Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Lawrence Eby, on Thursday, August 26, 2020 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, FL, at the age of 86.
Ray was predeceased by his parents Enos and Ruth, sisters Helen, Grace and Mildred, brother Frank, and grandson Matthew.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne, daughter Brenda and her husband Russell, son Larry and his husband David, son Michael and his wife Kathy, grandchildren Brian and Katie, brother Lee, and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was born in Miami on June 4th, 1934. As a boy, his love of baseball inspired him to hit rocks with a stick using the streetlight as a target…until he broke it! After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served his country for four years. He received a National Defense Service Medal for serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he earned an AA degree from Miami Dade Community College. He spent most of his professional career in the fire equipment sales and service market, working in Florida, Missouri and North Carolina.
Ray loved to travel and meet new people, which served him well as a consummate salesman. While on the road, he always made a point to stop to eat at the most unusual restaurants he could find. He also loved to play games, especially cards. Ray was a kind and gentle man who always seemed to have a big smile on his face.
The family will gather for a private service in the near future. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, a donation can be made in Ray’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
