Ray Mark Foster, 63 of Palatka died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his home. Ray was born November 5, 1948 in Washington Court House, Ohio. After high school, he joined the United States Army where he served his country in Vietnam. Ray was injured while on duty and received an honorable discharge. Then Ray attended the University of Cincinnati and earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology. Later, he met and married the love of his life, Myrtle Holt (nee Nelson) and moved to Goshen, Ohio. There he worked for the Warren County Children Protective Service assisting many children. In 1986, Ray and Myrtle relocated to Florida, where he continued his career by helping mentally ill adults in Port Charlotte, Florida. In retirement, he and Myrtle moved to Palatka, Florida where he enjoyed crafting, antiques, auctions and socializing with his friends and family. Ray's death was preceded by his mother Jean, his father Charles, his sister Suzie, his brother Gary, sons Leroy Holt and Christopher Foster. Ray is survived by his loving wife Myrtle, children David Holt (Steve Corrado), Teresa Essex (Mark), grandchildren Fawn Hornsby, Ryan Hornsby, and stepchildren Kirsten Essex, Kevin Essex (Ellen), Daniel Essex, and Adam Essex. A life celebration will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 5:00 PM in Palatka at the Francis Baptist Church.
