Obituary
Raymond (Ray) Dunleavy, 82, passed away September 27, 2017. His lifetime career was in Investment Banking and he changed locations from NYC, to NJ, to CT, then Miami Fl. After retiring from SunTrust Bank he Left Miami and moved to Palm City then finally Ocala where he called home. Ray, a graduate of Brown University, NYU School of Business and former Marine participated in many civic affairs, including Red Cross Disaster Volunteer, Voter Registration, United Way, Miami Metro Zoo Docent , Library Trustee, Master Gardeners of Marion County, Police Pension Advisory Board and several churches Finance committees. Ray’s favorite activity was raising and showing Sealyham Terriers. He was president or Treasurer of many clubs supporting this hobby that included the Longshore-Southport Kennel Club in CT, American Sealyham Terrier club, Airedale Club of America, Greater Miami Dog club, Florida Airedale Terrier club, Everglades Terrier Club, Greater Ocala dog club and Sunshine Airedalers of Florida, a rescue club. He represented the Sealyham club for over 10 years as the AKC delegate. He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 59 years; brother, Tom and his wife Patricia; sister-in-law, Valerie Burgatti; brother-in law, Joseph Burgatti and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations in Ray’s memory may be made to Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW34th Ave. Ocala, FL 34474. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Grace Episcopal Church, Broadway, Ocala at 2 PM. Following the service the ashes will be placed in the Church Garden. We are so saddened to learn of Ray's passing, and send to you and yours our deepest condolences for your loss. Ray was a wonderful, kind man - I feel privileged to have known him, and will cherish many happy memories of his charm, gentle nature, sharp wit, sense of humor and his great insights (that he shared with me – many a time we had long conversations) when it came to Airedales, and terriers in general. Please know that you are in our thoughts during this difficult time, and shall continue to remain in our prayers.
