Obituary

Raymond Keough Anderson, 51, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Orange City, Florida. He was born June 9, 1961 in Suffern, N.Y. to parents Raymond L. and Judith M. Anderson. Raymond loved life and lived it to its fullest. His passion for motorcycles led him to be a Rider/ Coach/ Instructor for the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Foundation and to lead several bike tours through the European Dolomites. He served our country proudly in the U.S Navy stationed on the USS Semmes and USS Waddell. He was stationed in San Diego, Charleston, Corpus Christi, Iceland, and Sardenia. His passion for helping others led him to obtain his Masters of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M and become a Drug & Alcohol Counselor in the Armed Services where he was named the Navy Drug & Alcohol Counselor of the Year in 1995. After leaving the service Ray redirected his passion to helping others and served as the Executive Director for the Children’s Center of Surrey County in Mt. Airy, N.C. Ray was an Edgewater Rotarian. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all he met, especially many of his former classmates from Danbury High School in Danbury, CT. In the final years of his illness Ray was supported by a group of those classmates known as the Prayer Warriors who communicated with him regularly but often felt he lifted them more with his wit and humor. His love for his wife and daughters was perhaps his strongest motivation to press forward following his lung transplant and battle with cancer. He was a great friend, father, husband and son and will be missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his infant son Brian Bennett and brother in-laws Dana Love and John Love. He is survived by his wife Catherine Love Anderson, daughters Claire Marie and Riley Elizabeth, brother Brian and his wife Christian of Apopka, Fl., sister Susan Cull and her husband Mark of Bell Buckle, TN, father Raymond and his wife Adrienne of Edgewater, Fl., and mother Judith of Mt. Dora, Fl. Nephews and nieces, John and Michael Love, Lilly and Cole Anderson; his father and mother in-law Dana & Beatrice Love of Isle of Palms, SC; sister in-law Denise Love of Chesapeake, VA and sister in-law Gina Love of Florence, SC. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., with a celebration of life beginning at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Baldwin Brothers, One North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. 32169. Memorials may be made to Donate Life or Hospice of Volusia Flagler. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. The loss of a loved one is the most painful experiences in life. There is a void that cannot be filled. Rest assured the Bible promises we will hold them again and enjoy their smiling faces forever. It is God's purpose that no one dies ever again and everyone live on earth in Paradise. God never wanted anyone to die but to live happy, healthy lives forever on earth. We have to exercise faith in his Son, Jesus Christ, to gain these blessings. God gives us his Word so we can gain comfort now and have hope for the future.
