Obituary

Raymond Charles Zukaitis, of Estero, FL, passed away peacefully in his home on June 14, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, June 25, at the pool at Sunny Grove Park, 3612 Lychee Lane, Estero, FL. Those wishing to sign his guestbook can do so by searching the obituaries at www.baldwincremation.com and entering Zukaitis in the search bar.

Born on October 4, 1950 in Plainfield, NJ to Charles and Hilda Zukaitis, Ray was many things to those who knew and loved him. A mechanic/body man by trade for most of his life, he enjoyed a diverse career in automotive design and restoration, including a stint at DeLorean Motor Company and the design – as Master Craftsman – of the Sorrell Road Car. Always ready with a smile, a quick wit and a heart of gold, he loved being out on the water in his boat, especially with friends and family. But above all, he was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, husband, and true friend.

Ray is survived by his brother Karl Zukaitis; his daughters Vicky Holloway and Tracy Zukaitis; his grandchildren Mathew Davis, Makena Holloway, Sierra Holloway, and Leeann Perez; his great-grandchildren Wesley, Vincent, and Zoey; and his domestic partner Clara Faye Aldridge. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Hilda Zukaitis, and his sister Rosann Gardner.

Ray will be missed by all, but he lives on in the hearts and souls of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Ray was a great father who loved his daughters more than his own life. He was extremely talented. Designing custom cars. He loved restoration of classic cars and could take a crushed up corvett and rebuild it. He had many a corvette owner bring him a bag of parts only to come backto have the car like new. To be absent.from.the body is to be present with the Lord. He will be missed dearly.

I wish I’d known you longer, but I treasure the time we did have together. You were an amazing and loving man, and you raised two wonderful daughters. It has been my honor to call you Dad. Pour one out for us up there.
