Obituary

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Renfield T. Belanger, 77 died on Feb. 4, 2016, at home surrounded by his wife and family members after a courageous two year battle of pancreatic cancer.  Rennie never lost his wonderful sense of humor throughout his battle.

He was born in Montpelier, Vermont on Feb. 7, 1938, the son of the late Arthur H. Belanger, Sr. and Clara A. Belanger.

He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1957.  Rennie was married to Martha Sinclair on April 8, 1967 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Montpelier.  They lived on Barnes Road in East Montpelier and retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL in 2001.

After high school he joined the Vermont National Guard and retired after 23 ½ years of service. He was employed by Union Mutual Insurance Company and Vermont National Bank.  He later became a realtor with Century 21 Realty until retirement.  He was a member of Montpelier Jaycees, enjoyed biking, working around his home and listening to music.  He was Treasurer of his local homeowners association for several years.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Marty -- I just read in the paper that Rennie had passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. Every time I pass your old house on Barnes Road, I always think that you and Rennie kept that house looking so much better than the people that bought it. The house radiated charm when you two lived there! I have thought of you and Rennie at different times since you moved, and always hoped that you and he were happy in Florida. Again, I send you sympathy and hope that you will remember the good times. Memories are so important to healing.
    Best regards.
