RICHARD A. GONDOLF, 89, husband of the deceased Alberta Marino Gondolf died Thursday, January 12, 2017. He was a long-time resident of Bishop’s Glen Retirement. Community. Born in Camden, NJ he was the son of Richard B. and Eleanor Shenk Gondolf. He is survived by many relatives and friends, and he often expressed his thanks to Niece Patricia Bongiovanni and his close friend Gabriel DiMuro for their help and care during his difficult times. Richard worked as a conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad while attending Temple University where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Education. A tour of duty as an officer in the US Army Corp of Engineers interrupted both his work and further education. After his separation from the Army he accepted a teaching position in Camden, NJ, the city of his birth, and began a long and distinguished career in education serving in positions of Teacher, Supervisor, Middle School Principal and High School Principal. All this while attending graduate school and receiving his Master’s Degree at Rutgers University. He continued his career as Principal at Deptford High School in Deptford, NJ. Upon retirement in 1987 he and Alberta moved to New Smyrna Beach to enjoy the warmth of the Florida sun. Boating was one of Richard’s favorite ways to relax, especially with friends on his houseboat “Little Toot”. He will be fondly remembered by many. At his instruction, services and internment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to THE RESIDENTS COUNCIL OF BISHOP’S GLEN MEMORIAL FUND, 900 LPGA BLVD, HOLLY HILL, FL 32117.
