Obituary
Richard Emil Ward, age 90, passed from this world on April 30, 2021, in Ocala, FL.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rosann, of Ocala; his four daughters, Barbara (John) of FL, Lynn (Brian) of MI, Debra of NC, Dionne (Phillip) of TN, and Rosann’s daughter, Christine of TX, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, his brother Robert (Norma), and his sister Carol. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, and grandson.
Richard was born on October 3rd,1930 in Detroit, MI. He joined the Airforce after attending Owosso High School and was honorably discharged in 1952, being awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He joined the Air National Guard in 1954 and served until 1963. Richard began his 36 year career as a lead aircraft mechanic at American Airlines in 1960.
In addition to his loving family, Richard enjoyed building and flying his Cessna and was a talented and accomplished artist and musician. He played the banjo and had a deep affinity for bluegrass music. His caricature drawings and figurine woodcarvings will always be cherished by his family and friends. His wry sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone.
A celebration of Richard’s life for his family and friends is scheduled for May 6th 2021 at 6pm at the Elks lodge #286, 702 NE 25th Ave., Ocala FL. Donations in Richard’s name to the Ocala Ladies of Elks and/or the Ocala VFW post 4209 in lieu of Flowers is appreciated.
