Richard Keith Heckathorn, passed away January 13, 2020. Born in Liverpool, Ohio he was the son of Ruth and George Heckathorn. Richard honorably served in WWII in the Army Air Corps largely in the Pacific, where he sustained injuries while serving in Burma. After serving his country he moved to Syracuse, NY and was a supervisor for Niagara Mohawk Electric Company for more than 40 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. In 2001, he moved to Palm Coast, FL, and was for several years an active member of the North-East Florida Jazz Association (NEFJA), the All-British Car Club of Volusia County, the Flagler County Orchid Society and the Flagler County Genealogy Society. Richard was a Mason and a Shriner for more than 60 years and was a Life-time member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Left to cherish his memory are his wife Joyce Moser-Thomas (nee Brisson) whom he met in 1996; his two daughters, Judy Mills (Vic) and Jean Heckathorn; four step-children, Lex Moser (Irene), Gail Palmer, Robert Moser (Carey) and Tricia Moser (Gerry Britan); eight grandchildren; seven great and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a former wife (Harriett). Richard’s family is grateful to the staff of the Emery L. Bennett Veterans’ Nursing Home in Daytona Beach, Florida, for the warm and professional care he received during his final years.

Richard will be remembered for his boundless energy and great joy from life.
