Obituary
Richard H. “Dick” Kolb, 87, a retired Florida State Fire Marshall and retired Fire Captain for Daytona Beach, FL passed away April 17, 2017 in Ocala, Florida. A native of Daytona Beach, FL, he moved to Ocala after retirement from the Daytona Beach Fire Dept. in 1974 to teach his profession at the Florida State Fire College. His State Fire Certification number was 0001. He was past president of Local 1162 I.A.F.F. in Daytona and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 143. Dick was a Veteran of WWII and Korea and a recipient of several military awards. His naval service was with the US Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees). He loved fire service and his dedication showed it. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty E. Kolb. He is survived by his daughters, Robin M. Fitchett, Bonnie Lee Steinberg, Richelle Holly Heath and Barbara Westlund; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He prevented and extinguished fires all his happy life. I am honored to have had the opportunity to know this incredible man and had him in my children's lives. He was a wonderful papa to them and the love between them was priceless. His memory will live on through the family and everyone who knew him. Rest in peace papa
