Obituary
Richard Lee Metzing went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 27, 2021. He passed away peacefully at his home in Ormond Beach, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Richard grew up in Anderson, Indiana and was the oldest of four siblings. He graduated from Highland High School, and attended Ball State University and General Motors (GM) Institute. Richard was a hard worker and a skilled tool and die maker at GM for 42 years. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing and trading motorcycles and hot rods. He loved the Lord and was a light to all he witnessed to as a prison ministry chaplain. He was active in his church as a deacon and elder, and taught Sunday school and youth group classes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patti Metzing, children, Shawna (Glenn) Davis, Darren (Carmen) Metzing, grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Dennis Davis Jr., and Luna Metzing and his siblings David Metzing, Dee (J.R.) Carpenter and Cindy (Steve) Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Raleigh and LeNora Bell, son-in-law Dennis Davis Sr., grandson, Joshua Davis, and first wife of 50 years, Judith Metzing.
A memorial service will be held at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain, Michigan on Saturday, September 18, 2021 for family members and close friends. He will be greatly missed.
