Obituary
Richard Alan Mikan, 68, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Frank and Mary (Badorek) Mikan and lived in Connecticut before moving to The Villages, Florida in 2014. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 and continued his service in the Naval Reserves and the Marine Corp Reserves through 1986. He retired from ADT Security Services as a Project Manager in 2002 after a successful career of 31 years. Richard pursued many hobbies and activities including camping, kayaking, golf, archery, attending Nascar races and even driving on the Daytona racetrack. He was an active member of several clubs in The Villages including the Archery, Camaro, Polo, UCONN Sports and Connecticut Social clubs. He loved exploring new places, parks and attractions throughout Florida and was passionate about visiting many of Florida’s wildlife sanctuaries.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Hariet; sons, Christopher and Todd; twin brother, Joseph (Jay) Mikan; and 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Ashton and Olivia Mikan. He is predeceased by his brother Thomas Mikan.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7th followed by a military funeral at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 1pm.
