Richard Peter Smith, 81, of Flagler Beach, Florida, passed away January 21, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with complications from open heart surgery. He was born on October 19, 1939 in Shrewsbury, MA, to his parents, Richard and Helen Smith.
Richard was a former Marine who served in Vietnam twice. He earned a bachelor’s degree through Nichols College in Massachusetts. After retiring from Federal Law Enforcement where he had a long career as a DEA and ATF agent, he ran the Guardian ad Litem program in Flagler County for several years and was also a court mediator for Flagler and Volusia County. Richard loved spending time with his soulmate of 48 years, Carol, riding his Harley, and gathering with friends at the Iron Horse Saloon on Sundays.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Carol, and his cherished friends, Tony Loree, C.T., and Teresa Hill. He is dearly loved by his family and friends, and his memory will be greatly cherished.
