Obituary
Richard Albert Stawick, age 75, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, March 15, 2019 in Orlando, Florida. He was born on May 20, 1943 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Neptune and Isabell Stawick. He is survived by his daughters Stephanie (Dan) Van Rossen and Jennifer (Lorenzo) Zuniga and his siblings Jerry (Peggy) Stawick, Alicia Dunning, and Myron (Kathy) Stawick. Rich will also be fondly remembered by his loving grandchildren Blake, Kelsey, Lorenzo, Ethan, and Anna. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Therese Markus, Arnold Stawick, Gilbert Stawick, and twin sister Ruth Ann Stawick.
Rich grew up on the south side of Chicago in Riverdale, Illinois where he graduated from Mendel Catholic High School in 1961. He went on to earn a Bachelors in Business Administration with a Management Major from the Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago in 1968. After graduating, Rich worked as a manager at a local steel mill company before becoming a successful liquor salesman for Hiram Walker Distillery. He then married and had two daughters. Rich had an entrepreneurial drive and this is when he began to rehab homes and owned and managed 28 apartment units. This same drive prompted him to move his family to Thousand Oaks, California in 1983. He pursued a career in real estate with Century 21, continued to rehab homes, owned rental properties and built two prosperous laundromats. He semi-retired in 1996 and moved to Anderson, SC where he enjoyed living on Lake Hartwell and building spec homes. In 2007 he moved to Altamonte Springs, FL and continued to complete renovation jobs, he could never sit still, and became heavily involved in the charitable Parrot Heads of Central Florida. Assisting in organizing events to benefit local charities became a passion of his and he loved to “party with a purpose” with his Phlock. He was also an avid and extremely intuitive card player and joined a euchre club and various poker games and tournaments in central Florida. Above all he was a loving brother, father, and papa. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his grandchildren. He spent many days watching them play various sports and being a positive influence in their lives. He was a loving and caring man and would help anyone in need. His charisma and vibrant spirit will be remembered by all.
