Obituary

Richard Strahlman of Nokomis, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020, with his loving family by his side.  He was 87 years old.  Richard was born in Bronx, New York, on December 21, 1932 to the late John F. Strahlman and Deborah (Smith) Strahlman.

Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College (Flushing, NY) while training for the United States Air Force.

One of Richard’s greatest accomplishments was serving our country as a First Lieutenant and then Captain in the United States Air Force.  He was a member of the Flying Tigers 76th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron where he was a Skilled Radar Observer in the F-89H aircraft.

Following his time in the Military, Richard spent many years in the Human Resources Department for McCormick Spice Company in Baltimore, MD and then later for American Water Works Service Company in Voorhees, NJ.

He enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, reading and traveling. He was honored to be a Master Mason for the Grand Lodge and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mona Strahlman of Venice, FL, his daughter, Susan Kerr (Ray) of Madeira Beach, FL, his son Dr. R. Scott Strahlman (Teri) of New Market, MD, and his step daughter Jennifer Batka (David) of Atlanta, GA.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, located at 1475 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292 where a service will be held in his honor on Friday, January 31, 2020 @11:00 a.m.
