In Loving Memory of Richard Walter Nelson, II
June 29, 1981 – January 26, 2025
Richard (Nelly) Nelson lived with unstoppable energy and an adventurous spirit, making the most of every moment. He passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving behind unforgettable memories, deep friendships, and an impact that will never fade.
Born on June 29, 1981, in Miami, Florida, Richard moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1992 and never looked back. He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1999 and was a lifelong proud Cuda. He attended the University of Central Florida before dedicating himself to his landscaping business pouring his heart into building a good life for his family. Richard lived with passion – whether carving down a mountain on his snowboard, catching waves with fearless joy, or sharing a laugh with friends. He was always the first to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement, leaving a mark of kindness and generosity everywhere he went.
Above all, Richard was a devoted father. His daughter, Bella, was his greatest adventure, his proudest achievement, and the brightest light in his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Nelson. He will be deeply missed by his life partner, Andrea Tate; his daughter, Isabella Nelson; his loving canine companions, Oliver and Lily; his mother, Lynn Nelson; his sister, Jennifer Robinson (Stephen); his niece, Paige Robinson; his nephew, Will Robinson, aunts, uncles, cousins; and the countless friends who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A paddle-out ceremony will be held in March to honor his incredible life.
The best way to remember Richard is to live boldly, help others without hesitation, and find joy in every wave, mountain, and moment in between.
It seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did.
Gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.
Your spirit dances in the stars.
May your soul find eternal peace.
In memory of a life filled with love and laughter.
memories as they live on through family and friends. God bless.
Love you, bro.
