Captain Rick Ogle, age 56, passed away on January 1, 2010, at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County. Rick was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 20 1953. Growing up in Texas he became an Eagle Scout, played high school sports, an avid fisherman and surfer. After serving in the Navy he returned to Texas and began his lifelong career in the sport fishing industry. As a captain he navigated the waters of the Northern and Southern hemisphere, excelling in blue marlin fishing. Rick endorsed environmental techniques concerning preservation of his beloved waters. He competed in and won a myriad of world class billfish tournaments.
During his life he loved playing golf, entertaining friends with laughter, cooking delicious cuisine, educating the novice fisherman, and embracing other cultures with an open mind and heart. He and Rene' took great pleasure in attending pro sports events including: baseball, football, basketball, and golf.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by the love of his life, Rene' Waldrip; two sons, Ryan and Corey Ogle, two brothers, Kenny and Robert Ogle all of Corpus Christi. Both parents are deceased.
A memorial service will be held at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 3:00 PM In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County, www.hovf.org.
