I have known Rick as a neighbor and friend of my late brother since the late 1960's. I went to the same high school and lived a few houses away form him and his family. I am lifelong friends with his sister and I will always think about him and am so very sad to hear he is gone. He was such a kind, nice vibrant person and it is very sad he left us so young. Rest In Peace.

I also only met Rick a few times, the first being the Panama City Le Noise gathering, and it was a pleasure to do so. Having recently bought a home in that area I was looking forward to getting to know him better ... and I am sad that I will not have that opportunity. A gracious and smiling friend indeed. My condolences to all who were close to him, especially sweet Mary.

I still can't believe, Rick is gone, too far gone. Gone, but not forgotten.
Rick, you will always live on in our hearts and memory.
Even if I live on the other side of the Ocean in Germany, I always felt, we were allied through our love for music. And wasn't that fun, jamming along at OPL, IRF the last couple of years in California?

    Now he's gone
    like a shooting star
    Trail of dreams
    tragic trail of fire
    Now he's gone
    like a shooting star
    Driveby, Driveby,
    Driveby, Driveby.

    Miss you, Rick!

I was so very sad to hear about Rick's sudden passing. My sincerest condolences to Mary, his family and other loved ones.
I didn't know Rick as well as some others, but we had been in communication over the past three years. (We were both long-time admirers of Neil Young's work.) Rick had been assisting me with some research for a book I'm writing about Neil's childhood. He kindly offered to do some legwork in New Smyrna Beach and sent valuable information (as well as some photos). He expressed that he had enjoyed the experience. I was very appreciative of his kindness and thoughtfulness. (I plan to include his name in the Acknowledgments.) I'll truly miss him and remember him as an open and genuinely good person. RIP, Rick...

I didn't know Rick personally, but one night I attended a popular open music jam in town. I was in another room and heard this man singing and playing this song. I had to go see who it was. I was very impressed. Being a longtime musician myself I could tell Rick was the real deal. A musician's musician.

    Peace brother!
