Obituary
Rita W. Freeman, age 81, of South Daytona, Florida passed away on August 8, 2024. Rita was born November 12, 1942, in Everettes, NC (Martin County), to Ira and Carrie Coltrain Manning, and lived the majority of her life in South Daytona, FL. She is survived by daughters Gwen M. Fabulich and Cindy Gail Freeman, both of South Daytona; brothers, Shelburn M. Wilkes, wife Rita of Orlando, FL, Daniel M. Wilkes, wife Lynne of Valrico, FL. She was predeceased by Leighton H. Manning and Donald M. Manning. Rita, along with brothers Shelburn and Dan were the adopted children of Henry H. and Marie T. Wilkes in 1953 from the Southern Christian Home in Atlanta, GA. She had been a long-time member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Daytona Beach, FL. Most recently she attended the Drive In Christian Church, Rita worked the majority of her life in law offices, with a lengthy tenure as receptionist for prominent attorney, J.K. Coble, law firm, for which she had a great admiration and respect. She will be missed by friends and extended family, sister-in-law Rita Wilkes, Orlando, FL., Lynne Wilkes, Valrico, Fl, and Florence Manning, Ocala, FL.
