I met Mrs. Carlisi almost 20 yrs ago at a St. Martin BINGO fundraiser. I’d heard stories from Shannon about her teenage years and how Mrs. C dealt with her shenanigans. Each story brought forward a chuckle from me and thoughts that this woman probably handles these students as well as she handled Shannon as a teen. The St. Martin students were lucky to have experienced her guidance and kind heart. You will be missed.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear." To Uncle Tony, Cousins Tony, Brian and Shannon, and your beautiful families, may your wonderful memories surround your heart and bring you peace. Aunt Rita was strong, intelligent and beautiful inside and out. An early memory of her was actually large professional photo that hung first in Grandma Grace's house and then in Aunt Liz's - Aunt Rita at age 6 maybe, dressed as a Red Cross nurse aiding a maybe 2 year old Uncle Roger! Adorable! We always enjoyed Aunt Rita's visits, and her sage and down to earth advice as she took time to speak to each of us kids individually. I know my Mom was always so proud of her sister and all that she accomplished, and held her up as a role model for us. May Aunt Rita enjoy her family reunion in heaven, and we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

    With much love,
    Michelle

Mrs. Carlisi (I still can’t bring myself to call her Rita) was exceptionally patient with us as eighth graders (there is a special place in heaven for people who choose to teach middle-schoolers). I remember her taking me aside to fix my makeup when it was particularly egregious . And I remember that when the class was quick to point out when her accent would emerge in the middle of a lesson, or when she would ask, “where are my glasses” and they were perched on top of her head…she was kind and gracious to us anyway. During that period in my life, watching her pick her battles and extend grace was formative. I’m grateful she was there as a role model. ❤️

Rita, and only now would my smart mouth dare call you that, Now at 50 I can see why I am proud of my early influences, but also that your vocation shaped, what became, a strong generation. We need you now more than ever. I consider myself lucky to have experienced you as an educator and a mother to one of my earliest friends when I had few.
The Lord knows us by the fruit of our labor - and we thank you for yours Mrs. Carlisi. Eternal rest grant unto you and may His perpetual light shine on you brightly.
