Robert A. Morris, Jr. AKA “Moon Man” passed away peacefully at his home May 7, 2017 from pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones and kitties. A lifelong resident of New Smyrna Beach, Robert was born July 17, 1960 to Robert A. Morris and Suzanne Welfer (both deceased). Nature was the backdrop for Robert’s life. He was an Eagle Scout, and he loved fishing, diving, and surfing—passions he shared with his son, Tracy Morris. Robert’s interest in plants and trees led him to start Robert A. Morris Landscaping, which he operated for nearly three decades. His clients were both locals and people from across the county—all of whom became his friends. Robert was a gentle soul who made the world better. He was a man of his word who worked tirelessly and could be counted on to always lend a hand. He genuinely improved the lives of people around him with his soft-spoken words and his infectious, luminous smile. Robert is survived by his life partner, Dana Garnjobst; his son, Tracy Morris and two grandchildren, Keely and Kai; his sister, Roxanna Long; and his brother, Steve Welfer. A celebration of life will be held at Traders, 317 Flagler Ave, New Smyrna Beach, on Thursday, May 11th from 5-7 pm. A memorial dedication is being established in Robert’s name. In lieu of other remembrances, donations can be made at his celebration of life or mailed to 1331 Saxon Dr. Box # 114, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169. Per Robert’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Ponce Inlet with a small private ceremony.
